"Let all the souls here rest in peace; For we shall not repeat the evil." Carved on the sarcophagus are the words written by Tadayoshi Saika, Professor of Hiroshima University. The thought behind the inscription may be expressed as the sincere desire of the people of Hiroshima for eternal peace.
